COMPENSATION INFORMATION
The salary range(s) represents our good faith estimate for the role at this time. While we strive to provide competitive and transparent compensation, there may be circumstances where an offer is above or outside of the listed range. We are open to discussing salary expectations with qualified candidates considering factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience and geographic location will all be considered during the hiring process.
+ Engineer II Pay Range: $88,000 - $98,000
+ Engineer Pay Range: $106,500 - $123,700
Join our team as an Engineer in Congestion Hedging!
Southwest Power Pool (SPP) is seeking a highly motivated Engineer – Congestion Hedging to lead the development, operation, and enhancement of the Congestion Hedging market within SPP’s Integrated Marketplace. This role plays a critical part in implementing and supporting Auction Revenue Rights (ARR) and Transmission Congestion Rights (TCR), in close collaboration with SPP stakeholders, vendors, and internal departments.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Operate and monitor the TCR markets, ensuring accurate and efficient processes.
+ Develop and maintain ARR/TCR software in collaboration with vendors and stakeholders.
+ Oversee and participate in testing congestion hedging systems to ensure compliance with market design.
+ Provide technical assessments and represent SPP in stakeholder and inter-regional committees.
+ Support regulatory and financial audits, including documentation and internal control development.
+ Ensure compliance with SPP Tariff, protocols, and policies.
+ Mentor staff on modeling and congestion hedging concepts.
+ Create technical reports, documentation, and presentations related to congestion hedging.
To be successful as the Engineer in Congestion Hedging we're looking for:
+ Bachelor of Science in Engineering, this degree should:
+ Be from a university that meets the requirements to sit for the Professional Engineering exam (in Arkansas, that is most typically a degree from an ABET accredited university or a graduate degree from a college that has an ABET accreditation),
+ Degree should be in a calculus-based engineering field and preferred degree programs are Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Systems Engineering
+ Engineer II - Two (2) years of job-related work experience - not eligible for remote work
+ Sr Engineer - Five (5) years of relevant Engineering experience; Professional Engineer License may satisfy one year of experience requirement.
+ Flexibility and ability to function with constantly changing and multiple priorities
+ Strong inter-personal and team work skills
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Competent working skills with communication and data handling software such as Microsoft Office© Word, Excel, and Access
**Preferred** :
+ Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or an MBA
+ Economics background and experience
+ Electric Utility Industry experience
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
+ This is a full-time position. Days and hours of the workweek are Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Working extended hours may be required.
Travel Requirement:
+ This position requires moderate travel (approximately 10-15%)
