    Position Summary

    The Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Inspector performs evaluations on parts produced using fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI) techniques to determine and detect defects that may compromise the integrity or quality of the part.

     

    Principle Duties and Responsibilities

     

    + Performs evaluations on parts produced used FPI techniques to determine surface imperfections, cracks, laps, and other defects that affect part quality.

    + Interpret criteria for NDT and pass or reject materials according to the criteria.

    + Sets up and calibrates NDT equipment, reads and interprets indications and evaluates them to established codes and specifications.

    + Performs specific calibrations, tests and evaluations on parts produced.

    + Record and maintain testing and inspection information on the required inspection sheets.

    + Provide technical assistance in the review and maintenance of device history records as well as all appropriate specifications and drawings.

    + Maintain NDT equipment.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    + Help team meet its goals.

     

    Experience and Education

     

    + High School diploma (or equivalence) required.

    + Minimum two (2) years of experience in fluorescent penetrant inspection.

     

    Technical Skills

     

    + Must certify to MIL-STD-410, Level II, FPI and skilled in fluorescent penetrant inspection.

    + Must be able to work from complex and detailed blueprints and/or verbal and written instructions with minimal supervision.

    + Must be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the NDT methods testing.

    + Ability to organize and prepare written reports for NDT investigations.

    + Demonstrated knowledge of basic math, including working with decimals and strong mechanical aptitude.

    + Demonstrate ability to work and communicate with co-workers and leadership.
