    Description

    Position Summary

    We are seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Engineer – Layout/Librarian Technician to support our electrical design team by managing schematic symbols, PCB footprints, and component lifecycle data across drone hardware programs. This role focuses on offloading technical administrative tasks such as library maintenance, layout preparation, revision control, and obsolescence management to keep engineering teams focused on design innovation. You’ll play a vital role in accelerating our development cycles while ensuring design consistency, data integrity, and long-term component reliability.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

     

    + Library & Data Management

    + Create, maintain, and verify schematic symbols, PCB footprints, and 3D models for electrical components.

    + Ensure all parts meet IPC standards and internal DFM/DFT guidelines.

    + Implement and enforce naming conventions, metadata standards, and footprint version control.

    + Work with procurement and supply chain teams to flag EOL/obsolete components and suggest approved alternatives.

    + Layout Support

    + Collaborate with design engineers to prepare layout-ready schematics, stack-ups, and netlist exports.

    + Assist in PCB layout tasks for smaller boards or revisions using Altium, KiCad, or similar tools.

    + Manage layer stackups, keep-out zones, and design constraints for drone-specific boards.

    + Review and validate layout files before release for fab/assembly, including DRC/ERC compliance checks.

    + Obsolescence & Change Management

    + Monitor BOMs for lifecycle risks (NRND, EOL, long lead times) using tools like SiliconExpert, Octopart, or internal databases.

    + Maintain component change logs, lifecycle reports, and compliance records (RoHS, REACH, etc.).

    + Coordinate with sourcing and engineering teams to validate alternate parts or update designs to mitigate supply chain issues.

    + Process & Documentation

    + Support ECO/ECN processes by preparing documentation packages for layout updates and library changes.

    + Maintain revision control, release notes, and historical layout archives.

    + Contribute to the development of design and library standards documentation.

    Required Qualifications

    + Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or related field.

    + 3+ years of experience with PCB design tools (Altium Designer strongly preferred).

    + Experience with component library management and footprint/symbol creation.

    + Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-7351, IPC-2221, etc.).

    + Strong organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail.

    + Understanding of electronics components, circuit symbols, and PCB design flow.

     

    Additional Desired Qualifications

     

    + Experience working in aerospace, drone, or embedded systems environments.

    + Familiarity with PLM systems (Arena, Agile, or similar).

    + Basic scripting or automation for library management (e.g., Altium scripts, Python).

    + Exposure to mechanical integration (e.g., 3D models of footprints, STEP file generation).

    + Knowledge of DFM/DFT and board-level manufacturing constraints.

     

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

     

    + Office/lab hybrid environment with regular collaboration with electrical and mechanical engineers.

    + Occasional interface with procurement, quality, and manufacturing teams.

    + Fast-paced and quality-focused hardware development cycle.

     

    Background Check
