    Description

    Position Summary

    Teal Drones, a wholly owned subsidiary of Red Cat Holdings, is looking to fill an immediate position for Senior Mechanical Engineer. Teal is focused on creating world class system solutions serving a broad range of applications for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). Teal is working to deliver state-of-the-art, high quality, high performance robotic systems to address the growing applications in the drone industry.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

     

    + Define design requirements based on high level product specifications.

    + Manage industrial design activities and perform feasibility studies to meet project requirements.

    + Create and revise engineering specifications.

    + Design mechanical components that meet defined engineering specifications.

    + Define validation test standards and manage component-level testing and verify overall system performance.

    + Design of individual components from concept. Produce 3D CAD models and drawings, incorporating critical dimensions and quality control callouts.

    + Coordinate with tooling vendors to ensure designs meet tooling requirements.

    + Implement Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles, integrating feedback from vendors.

    + Manage mechanical assembly documentation, ensuring compliance with quality control verification specifications for inspection.

    + Develop and maintain necessary manufacturing instructions.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    + Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

    + Possess 10 or more years of relevant experience.

    + Proficiency with SolidWorks over 5 years

    + Proficient understanding of engineering principles, best practices, and design processes.

    + Demonstrated ability to work with electromechanical designs in collaboration with other engineering disciplines.

    + Extensive background in part tooling processes, with a strong understanding of material limits and properties.

    + Excellent communication skills and proven ability to collaborate within a team environment.

    + Proficient in coordinating and managing multiple tasks internally, with the ability to interface effectively with external partners.

    + Track record of successfully bringing products to market.

     

    Additional Desired Qualifications

     

    + Previous experience with autonomous robotic systems.

    + Previous experience with avionics or UAVs.

    + Understanding Finite Element Analysis (FEA), structural, thermal, and modal analysis methods.

     

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

     

    + Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

    + Ability to stand for extended periods, as required by the duties and responsibilities.

    + Adeptness in moving around the office, manufacturing facilities, and other workspaces.

    + Proficient use of hands and fingers for tasks such as creating 3D CAD models and drawings.

    + Clear vision for precision work and attention to critical dimensions and quality control callouts.

    + Ability to actively engage in team discussions, presentations, and collaborative problem-solving sessions.

    + Adherence to safety protocols and guidelines in laboratory or manufacturing settings.
