Kurt Manufacturing is seeking a detail orientated Estimator who will work as a key member of the Sales Department, collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and external vendors to provide complete, detailed, and accurate bid pricing. The Estimator is responsible for preparing comprehensive pricing estimates for complex machined parts and assemblies across aerospace, defense, semiconductor, and other precision-driven industrial markets.
The ideal candidate will have an understanding of multi-axis CNC machining methods, assembly, inspection and outside processing requirements along with the ability effectively to work with tight deadlines and changing priorities.
Salary Range
The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $79,000 to $100,000. Salary offers may be based on a combination of factors including candidate knowledge, experience, skills, abilities, and education.
Essential Functions
+ Review and analyze RFQs to determine feasibility of project
+ Analyze drawings, CAD models, blueprints, customer requirements and other available information to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for applicable labor, materials, equipment, and outside resources required for the manufacture of component parts and assemblies.
+ Collaborate with program managers, engineers, sales team and other staff to obtain and clarify the information to be included and considered when preparing estimates.
+ Identify processes, tooling, gaging, and other information required for manufacture and assembly and assembly of parts/components
+ Solicit and evaluate quotes from vendors to obtain accurate, timely quotes for outside processing.
+ Read and understand routings to understand historical costs
+ Process and manage quotes; maintain accurate records of cost estimates and other relevant documents
+ Identify potential cost risks and develop strategies to mitigate them

Required
+ High School Diploma or equivalent GED
+ 5 years of related experience
+ Ability to read and analyze customer requirements on drawings, models, and other documents
+ Extensive knowledge of metals and CNC Manufacturing techniques
+ Knowledge of inspection techniques and quality requirements
+ Understanding of geometric dimensioning tolerances (GD&T) and tight tolerance manufacturing processes
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office skills including Excel and Outlook
+ Detail-oriented, organized and able to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
+ Bachelor’s Degree
+ Experience with geometric dimensioning tolerances (GD&T) and tight tolerance manufacturing processes
+ Experience with high pressure aluminum die casting methods and tooling
+ Experience with ERP systems; Epicor preferred
