    Job Summary

    The Department of Nutritional Sciences is seeking an experienced Intermittent Lecturer for the Winter 2026 semester. The Intermittent Lecturer will teach Nutrition 636, medical nutrition therapy and disease pathophysiology taught for malnutrition, starvation, metabolic stress, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, diabetes, and neoplasm. Current controversies are briefly introduced. Clinical nutrition screening, assessment, use of clinical laboratory data, and physical assessment are also introduced. In Nutrition 690, this course will provide Supervised Experiential Learning hours for students enrolled in the Dietetics, Path to RDN training program. The course will integrate experiential learning each semester, relevant to the didactic content.

     

    The class meets in-person on Tuesdays from 1:00-4:00 pm, January 13 through April 21, 2026 (with one week off for spring break). The teaching format includes lecture, in-class discussion, and interactive activities.

     

    This is an established 3-credit course consisting of 2 credits of didactic instruction (1:00-3:00 pm) and 1 credit of supervised experiential learning (3:00-4:00 pm). The course has a detailed map and supporting materials already in place. The supervised experiential learning hour focuses on applying concepts from the didactic portion through case studies and other practice-based exercises.

    Topics covered include:

    + Malnutrition, diagnosing malnutrition, and nutrition-focused physical exam

    + Nutrition Care Process, with emphasis on nutrition diagnosis

    + Upper and lower gastrointestinal conditions

    + Diabetes

    + Cardiovascular disease

    + Cancer

    Required Qualifications*

    -Bachelor's Degree, with Master's preferred

     

    -Registered Dietitian License

    -Clinical Experience

    -2+ Years Teaching Experience

    NUTR 636: Medical Nutrition Therapy (2 credits)

     

    NUTR 690: Supervised Experiential Learning (1 credit)

     

    Winter Semester, 2026, 25% effort
