Job Summary
The Strategic Planner (Intermediate) will support the Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education by leading strategic planning, managing financial analyses, coordinating education initiatives, organizing symposia and events, and serving as a representative of the SADME Office as needed. The individual acts as a strategic partner and project leader, bridging operations, academic programming, and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities*
Strategic Planning & Analysis
+ Assist in developing, refining, and monitoring the strategic plan for medical education programs; propose metrics, timelines, and evaluation frameworks
+ Conduct data analysis and generate financial models, scenario planning, and forecasting to inform decision-making
+ Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare dashboards, reports, and narrative summaries for leadership
+ Research trends in medical education (national best practices, accreditation, pedagogical innovation) and recommend strategic direction
Financial Management & Budget Oversight
+ Oversee and reconcile financial data related to medical education initiatives (grants, internal funds, departmental budgets)
+ Liaise with finance and accounting offices to ensure accuracy, compliance, and transparency of financial reporting
+ Develop cost-benefit analyses and business cases for proposed programs, symposia, or curricular changes
+ Monitor expenditures and flag variances; recommend adjustments and mitigation strategies
Programming, Events & Symposia
+ Lead planning, logistics, and execution of educational symposia, retreats, workshops, and special events (agenda, speakers, evaluation)
+ Coordinate across units (IT, facilities, marketing, CME, continuing education) and external partners
+ Manage timelines, vendor contracts, budgets, and collaborate with the Department of Communication on communication plans
+ Ensure continuity and institutional memory (post-event reporting, feedback loops)
Educational Initiatives & Project Management
+ Lead or co-lead initiatives in curriculum development, assessment, and program evaluation
+ Serve as project manager for cross-functional, multi-stakeholder projects (e.g., residency/fellowship certificate process, accreditation, new curricular pilots)
+ Facilitate committees or working groups; prepare meeting materials, agendas, minutes, and action trackers
+ Monitor progress, escalate risks, and ensure deliverables are met on schedule
Representation & Communication
+ Represent the SADME Office in internal and external meetings as needed (committees, advisory boards, stakeholder groups)
+ Prepare briefing materials, slide decks, memos, and executive summaries
+ Serve as liaison with other units
+ Promote visibility of the Office's goals, initiatives, and outcomes to faculty, staff, and external community
Required Qualifications*
+ Bachelor's degree in business, public policy, health administration, education, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in strategic planning, project management, or operations (preferably in higher education or healthcare)
+ Demonstrated skill in financial modeling, data analysis, and performance tracking
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to synthesize complex information for multiple audiences
+ Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple parallel projects
+ Ability to work independently and proactively, and to build relationships across diverse stakeholders
Desired Qualifications*
+ Advanced degree (e.g., MHA, MPH, MBA, M.Ed.)
+ Experience in medical education, academic affairs, or health sciences
+ Familiarity with accreditation, curriculum development, educational assessment
+ Experience organizing academic conferences or symposia
+ Proficiency in statistical / data tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, R, Python) and business intelligence systems
