    JOB SUMMARY

    The Manufacturing Quality Engineering Co-op is responsible for leading technical projects that drive innovation and operational excellence. This role focuses on the development and documentation of standardized processes and tools to address and resolve complex engineering and manufacturing inefficiencies encountered by both internal teams and external customers. Through a commitment to continuous improvement and collaboration, the co-op will contribute to enhanced product quality and optimized manufacturing performance.

     

    Pay: $25.00HR

     

    Co-op term: Spring - Summer 2026

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Lead the development of innovative solutions to complex engineering and manufacturing production challenges by leveraging expertise from both internal and external sources. Implement robust manufacturing process controls through comprehensive process analysis and application of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials knowledge.

    + Prepare and maintain documentation for new and existing manufacturing processes and procedures. Develop clear and effective work instructions, procedures, and standardized work using established engineering methodologies.

    + Ensure product and process quality by designing error-proof mechanisms, fixtures, and tools; establishing and documenting quality standards; and validating manufacturing processes to meet organizational requirements.

    + Design and utilize 3D-printed tooling and fixturing to streamline manufacturing operations and enhance error-proofing of production processes.

    + Drive process improvement initiatives by applying root cause analysis, corrective actions, continuous improvement, and lean manufacturing techniques to optimize production efficiency.

    + Serve as a problem solver for both internal and external teams, facilitating issue resolution and implementing strategies to reduce the cost of poor quality, including warranty claims, scrap, and rework.

    + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to recommend and implement process and functional improvements. Monitor, assist with, and execute corrective action activities as needed.

    + Determine root cause of failure to implement changes in design, tolerances, or processing methods.

    + Perform additional tasks as assigned by management to support departmental and organizational objectives.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    + Good critical thinking skills with the ability to develop alternative solutions.

    + Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal personnel, sales representatives, and customers.

    + Technical knowledge of mechanical assemblies.

    + Ability to navigate within an ERP system (SAP)

    + Software applications proficiency (MS Office, SAP, other technical applications)

    + Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.

    + Ability to write work instructions & related documentation.

    + A basic working knowledge of controls

    + A positive attitude & hands-on mentality

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    + Working towards a Mechanical / technical engineering bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university.

    + Hands on mechanical assembly/machining experience a plus.

    + Experience with CAD/CAM and/or 3D printing technology a plus.

    This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands, fingers, handle or feel, talk, see, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move occasionally lift office and shop products and supplies, up to 40 pounds. Use of the appropriate PPE is required.

     

    The employee is occasionally required to kneel, bend, stoop, walk or work in high precarious places. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and ability to adjust focus. PPE is required.

    This job operates in a manufacturing professional office environment. The employee can be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and loud noise level while on the production floor.

     

    The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate.
