    The Systems Engineering and Test Center (SETC) organization is currently hiring a **Sr. Principal Systems Engineer - Systems Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME)** to join our Tucson, AZ location. SETC is an exciting and challenging environment where you will have the opportunity to design, develop and partner with multi-disciplines to shape innovative solutions for our customers.     The **Sr. Principal Systems Engineer - Systems Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME)** will take a leading role in interfacing with the customer to develop CONOPS, system architecture, system requirements and manage qualification, verification and validation. You will guide and lead the functional / physical analysis, requirements allocation, and trade studies for system modifications. You will plan the Systems approach to engineering testing, integration and flight-testing, production, system deployment, and post deployment support across the product lifecycle. The **Sr. Principal Systems Engineer - Systems Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME)** role requires a high level of technical proficiency in all aspects of the systems engineering lifecycle with a focus on test and production test environments.

    What You Will do:

    + Analyze and study complex system requirements

    + Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, cost estimation, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications

    + Support failure investigations and root cause analysis to issues identified during component, section-level or system level tests

    + Apply Systems Engineering best practices and engineering rigor to requirements and/or design changes of the system at all levels of systems decomposition

    + Develop, review and/or update Systems Engineering artifacts including block diagrams, logic flow charts and/or activity diagrams to document system behaviors

    + Support the identification of near term and future system improvements and identify technical insertion points in the system lifecycle

    + Provide coaching and mentoring to junior-level team members on all aspects of Systems Engineering

    Qualifications You Must Have

    + Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience

    + Experience in Systems Engineering, Test Systems and Environments, System Architecture, and/or Design

    + Experience working on a cross-functional team of Systems Engineers and multi-discipline engineers

    + Experience mentoring engineers

    + Experience on a Missile and/or Defense Program

    Qualifications We Prefer

    + Post Graduate degree in in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or Physics

    + Understanding of Systems Engineering Product Development Cycle

    + Prior work experience giving technical briefs or presentations with strong verbal and written communication skills

    + Interfacing with customers

    + Developing & Refining CONOPS, System Architecture, System Requirement, and Requirements Verification Strategies & Plans

    + Performing Functional & Physical Analyses and Allocation

    + Creating & Maintaining Specifications

    + Subassembly and System Integration & Verification

    The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

     

    RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

     

    This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
