The Advance Driver Assistance Technology (ADAS) team develops state-of-the-art software and algorithms to deliver best-in-class features like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and 360 camera systems. ADAS also developed Ford's industry-first Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, securing over 60 patents in the process. The team is responsible for the full end-to-end delivery of these features into production on all Ford vehicle lines.
In this position...
You will work as a camera feature systems engineer in the ADAS System Engineering organization developing feature content like 360 Camrea, Turn Signal Views, Hitch Views, Camera on Demand, as well as connected vehicle services like Video Streaming and Security Cameras, As a systems engineer you will work on all aspects of the feature including HMI, external lighting, functional Safety failure mode avoidance ASPICE, regulatory compliance development design verification and validation. You will develop features through the system V process all the way from high level concept to technology requirements, and support development from prototypes through production implementation and launch.
What you'll do...
Lead the development of Camera feature engineering deliverables including Concept, Logical and Technology requirements, Boundary diagrams, design analysis, Failure Mode Avoidance, robustness fields and test procedures.
Work with Hardware, Software and Test teams to ensure Feature requirements are cascaded, aligned, and accepted.
Develop and refine vehicle level uses cases, interfaces and feature level specification to ensure production feature delivery.
Establish Feature objectives and ensure system operation to meet the end-user/customer objectives through a structured system level test methodology
Work with Functional Safety engineers to develop and refine feature functional safety requirements, item definition, hazard analysis/risk assessment and functional safety concept incompliance with ISO-26262/Ford Functional Safety process.
Ensure new features seamlessly integrate with existing features to provide a superb customer experience
Work with the virtual validation teams to establish CAE procedures to reduce dependence on vehicle-level testing.
Assure that the integration of affected systems meet the requirements for accurate feature-level performance
Support development of Design validation methods to ensure feature robustness across all vehicle environmental conditions and customer usage
Use data analysis techniques and methods from data generated by track, lab and model-based validation method to ensure feature achieves a desired set of requirement.
Plan and help execute real-world evaluation of ADAS features via vehicle/HIL/virtual testing and identify system problems/issues
Support and coordinate root-cause analysis with internal functions and external suppliers to ensure delivered system achieves feature requirements
Support Sign-off of feature level performance for first vehicle program implementation
Gather quality history to manage and drive feature quality and improvements (i.e. Data Analytics/VOCF/Launch Feedback/Warranty/External Metrics such as JD Powers).
You'll have...
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
5+ years of experience with Camera hardware or system.
2+ years of experience developing features in the ADAS domain using radars, cameras, LIDAR, ultrasonic sensors and/or other related vehicle systems (e.g. body, electrical, chassis, powertrain, etc.)
2+ years of experience in system engineering including experience with the System V, Functional decomposition, design analysis, Concept, Logical and technology level requirements development, System integration and FMA analysis.

Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
Experience in authoring new system requirements/specifications
Experience with SysML / MagicDraw
Understanding of embedded hardware and software design
Troubleshooting experience with electro mechanical systems
Experience with Functional Safety (ISO26262) and Failure Mode Avoidance
Experience using typical automotive interfaces (e.g.CAN, CANFD, Autosar, Auto-Ethernet, FoxGlove.)
Experience using Vector CANape, CANalyzer and dSPACE Controls Desk or similar tools
Experience with model based design (e.g. Matlab,Simulink, Stateflow, state machine development, etc.)
Verification proficiency (e.g. design verification methods, data acquisition/analysis, hardware-in-the-loop, etc.)
Experience with rapid prototyping hardware
Experience Programing in C, C++ or equivalent programing language
Knowledge of virtual validation methods (e.g. HIL,MIL, SIL, etc.)
Strong leadership skills with a passion for quality and customer happiness
Excellent communication, teamwork, interpersonal and project management skills
Ability to work well independently and take initiative.
