    Embark on a foundational career journey with the Underbody Systems Engineering (UnSE) organization as a Quality Engineer at the Ford Sterling Axle Plant (SAP).

     

    This role is designed for an eager engineer looking to gain hands-on experience and develop expertise in ensuring the quality of critical axle components for Ford's iconic vehicles like the F-Series, Expedition/Navigator, Explorer/Aviator, Mustang, and Transit. You will be immersed in a dynamic manufacturing environment, learning directly from experienced engineers and contributing to daily activities that uphold our high standards for internal and external quality, production efficiency, and continuous improvement.

     

    The Ford Sterling Axle Plant (SAP) is a key manufacturing facility specializing in the production of front and rear axles for a wide range of Ford vehicles. As a Quality Engineer within the Underbody Systems Engineering (UnSE) organization, you will be mentored while learning to play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the high standards of product quality that Ford customers expect.

     

    The UnSE team is integral to Ford's product development, focusing on systems engineering practices across vehicle design, optimization, and production. This position requires a proactive, hands-on approach, engaging directly with gear manufacturing, machining, and assembly processes. Under the guidance of the plant resident engineer, you will learn to identify quality issues, understand plant metrics, and participate in comprehensive warranty part analysis.

     

    What you'll do...

     

    This position requires a proactive, hands-on approach, engaging directly with the gear manufacturing, machining, and assembly processes. You will be responsible for driving quality improvements, supporting plant metrics, and conducting in-depth warranty part analysis to identify root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions. This is an excellent opportunity for a new engineer to make a significant impact on product reliability and manufacturing excellence.

     

    + Monitor and improve quality for all product lines manufactured at the Sterling Axle Plant (SAP).

    + Support the plant team in achieving key SAP metrics, including First Time Through (FTT), Jobs Per Hour (JPH), and Waste Elimination/Hidden Factory initiatives.

    + Provide necessary support to the driveline organization while on-site at SAP, including process reviews, functional trial runs, and product reviews.

    + Conduct comprehensive warranty part analysis, encompassing initial analysis, development, and driving work streams to determine root cause, implement corrective action(s), and prevent recurrence.

     

    You'll have...

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

    • Proficiency in MS Office-based software.

    • Interest in learning and developing familiarity with engineering tools such as WERS, Teamcenter, and Minitab.

     

    Even better, you may have...

     

    • Developing problem-solving skills with a strong interest in learning methodologies like Six Sigma (Green Belt certification is a plus, or a willingness to pursue).

    • Eagerness to learn and contribute effectively in a manufacturing environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams and organizations.

    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
