The Section Manager, Hardware Engineering is part of the Hardware and Infrastructure (HW&I) Engineering Team. This is an opportunity to join a team developing the next generation Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Weather Data Reporting systems, as well as providing support to existing fielded systems.
Collins Aerospace is a world leader in air traffic sensors and automation systems, responsible for providing air traffic tools to ANSPs in the US and abroad. The Section Manager will lead a team of Engineers - within the Electrical and Mechanical Design department of the HW&I directorate – performing development and sustainment tasks such as: Network design, implementation and monitoring; COTS electrical, network, processor and mechanical design, integration and test; thermal analysis; site design and implementation. The team’s core capabilities are: Hardware Requirements Development; COTS-based System Design and Implementation; Engineering support to production and deployment.
What You Will Do:
+ Support the performance and career development of Section members; create plans for developing talent and skill-sets to meet program demands.
+ Lead program actions such as monthly program reviews, quarterly Estimate At Complete (EAC) reviews, etc.
+ Serve as the hardware lead for proposal estimation and writing, including Basis of Estimates.
+ Review and approve all proposals for new work within the Section.
+ Work with other Mechanical and Electrical Section Managers to ensure the proper staffing of programs and proposals – including future outlook loading.
+ Travel: occasional domestic travel and potential international travel.
Qualifications You Must Have:
+ Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
+ Minimum 10 years experience in disciplined COTS hardware integration, to include, design, testing, installation, troubleshooting and support in rack-based systems and custom enclosures.
+ Experience leading multidisciplined teams through the product development process and directing team efforts in resolving complex multi-level functional/programmatic issues.
+ Experience maintaining program financial controls including Earned Value Management Systems, budgeting, scheduling, and performance monitoring applications
+ Experience with business and project management tools and procedures (e.g. EVMS, IMS/IMP, Risk Management, Financial Forecasts and EAC).
+ U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer:
+ Experience with air traffic control or weather system hardware
+ Earned Value Management System (EVMS) Certification is strongly desired
+ Experience in technical risk management
+ Existing or the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret security clearance

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
