The Opportunity
As a Procurement Specialist in the Mechanical category, you will play a key role in executing strategic sourcing initiatives, managing supplier relationships, and supporting cross-divisional procurement activities across Abbott’s global mechanical supply base. This category includes precision machining, wires, metal tubing, fluidics, electric motors, and fabrication components. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders and strategic suppliers to drive cost savings, mitigate supply risks, and enable new product introductions (NPIs), ensuring a resilient and innovative supply network that supports Abbott’s mission to deliver life-changing technologies.
What You’ll Work On
+ Support strategy development, cost savings initiatives, procurement tools, and supplier relationship management.
+ Manage supply constraint requests and escalate divisional supply issues within the category.
+ Analyze solutions to mitigate supply constraints using supplier capability data and performance metrics.
+ Communicate updates to global procurement, divisional stakeholders, and suppliers to prevent issues.
+ Resolve non-standard work issues such as invoicing, delivery performance, quality events, and lead times.
+ Develop and execute category strategies under the guidance of strategic category leaders.
+ Represent category needs on project teams and ensure alignment with category strategy.
+ Create and execute RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs for supplier engagement.
+ Gather and analyze data for supplier selection and negotiations.
+ Collaborate with internal functions to drive strategic objectives and enable procurement tools.
+ Integrate suppliers and track KPIs to ensure performance.
+ Drive measurable savings outcomes and continuous improvement initiatives.
+ Proactively seek innovative ways to improve procurement processes and support sustainability initiatives.
+ Build and maintain strong supplier relationships and support SRM objectives.
+ Partner with One Procurement teams across divisions to identify synergies and efficiencies.
+ Ensure compliance with corporate and divisional policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Business, or Finance.
+ 2–4 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or relevant engineering roles.
Preferred Qualifications
+ CPM or equivalent certification.
+ Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
+ Proficiency in spreadsheet programs and data analysis tools.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Ability to influence and network across interdisciplinary and intercultural teams.
+ Experience with PowerBI and contracting (SOW).

The base pay for this position is $60,000.00 – $120,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
