JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Associate Chief Nursing Officer, the Clinical Manager provides 24-hour operational accountability for the Center for Behavioral Medicine. This includes overall responsibility for planning, development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of care delivery within the inpatient and or outpatient setting for the provision of safe, high quality, clinical care.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Supports and helps implement evidenced-based practice.
+ Facilitates multidisciplinary care to ensure the best possible outcome for patients.
+ Monitors financial performance (expenses and productivity) and justifies monthly budget variances.
+ Demonstrates financial savvy, applying key financial concepts to decision-making.
+ Ensures that staffing patterns meet work requirements and that all employees are competent (annual training and annual performance evaluations are complete).
+ Monitors staff turnover and develops and implements retention strategies to maintain turnover at less than 8% annually.
+ Assumes accountability for all relevant personnel functions as appropriate; i.e., recruitment, hiring, firing, evaluating, counseling, and educating with primary emphasis placed on staff retention.
+ Assumes accountability for remaining current regarding standards of care established by the profession, regulatory & accreditation bodies and hospital policy and procedures.
+ Ensures that nursing practice is consistent with those current standards.
+ Sets and enforces high standards for the quality of patient care delivered by the unit(s).
+ Directs unit-based performance improvement and patient/employee safety programs and projects.
+ Participates on task forces, PI teams, committees, etc. Prepares and presents quarterly audits to the ASC QI Committee.
+ Identifies patient and employee safety risks and makes changes to reduce them.
+ Utilizes tools such as root cause analysis to investigate sentinel events (and near misses).
+ Holds staff accountable for patient and employee safety standards, polices, procedures and practices.
+ Holds self and staff accountable for meeting objectives and commitments and adhering to standards even in the face of unforeseen circumstances.
+ Organizes, prioritizes and coordinates time and resources to improve efficiency.
+ Demonstrates initiative, recognizing and embracing opportunities for improvement.
+ Plans and prioritizes the best method for accomplishing short and long-term goals.
+ Encourages cooperation, teamwork at the department, division, and hospital-wide levels.
+ Facilitates the constructive management of conflict.
+ Provides coaching and education to staff so that they can meet/exceed performance expectations
+ Ability to facilitate involvement and participation on the part of staff in committees and project work to achieve the department, nursing division and hospital goals and objectives.
+ Expresses ideas clearly and effectively, responds to issues raised by others, ensures that people get the information they need to do their jobs, provides feedback on performance.
EDUCATION AND RELATED EXPERIENCE:
Required:
+ G raduate of an accredited school with a degree in nursing, psychology, social work, or mental health counseling
+ Experience: 3–5 years of progressive experience in acute behavioral health leadership
+ Certification/licensure congruent with the above educational requirements.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS)
+ De-escalation training completed within the orientation period
