The Superintendent is responsible for leading all field operations from project kickoff through closeout, ensuring projects are built safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role oversees subcontractors, vendors, and field staff, driving daily coordination, safety compliance, schedule execution, and quality control. The Superintendent serves as the onsite leader, working closely with Project Managers, design teams, inspectors, and clients to resolve issues and maintain progress. This position requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. It offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on project success while developing long-term career growth.
Responsibilities
+ Champion and enforce safety and OSHA standards for all onsite personnel.
+ Conduct daily safety talks and enforce site rules, ensuring compliance with safety documentation requirements.
+ Stabilize incident scenes and document injuries, property damage, and corrective actions.
+ Maintain site logistics, traffic control, housekeeping, and environmental controls in compliance with permits and standards.
+ Assist the Project Manager in preparing project-specific scopes of work.
+ Plan and coordinate all project activity, including subcontractors, suppliers, equipment, and resources.
+ Lead and document weekly trade coordination meetings and manage onsite activities.
+ Provide accurate project updates and coordinate with the Project Manager to update master schedules.
+ Direct daily activities of subcontractors and vendors, ensuring compliance with project standards.
+ Walk the project regularly to ensure compliance with construction standards and contract documents.
+ Coordinate inspections, testing, and manage punch lists to ensure project completion.
+ Document daily logs, including weather, manpower, deliveries, and progress photos.
+ Manage cranes, lifts, and verify certifications and lift plans.
+ Support project completion, warranty, and demobilization activities.
+ Lead daily huddles and weekly subcontractor meetings, track commitments, and coordinate with architects and engineers to resolve design issues.
+ Partner with project stakeholders to ensure timely project completion.
Essential Skills
+ 7+ years of commercial construction field leadership as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
+ Proficiency with Procore and Microsoft Project concepts.
+ Ability to plan work, drive schedules, and coordinate multiple trades.
+ Strong blueprint/specification reading skills and understanding of building systems.
+ Commitment to safety with OSHA-30 certification or ability to obtain, and First Aid/CPR.
+ Excellent communication, documentation, and conflict-resolution skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ SWPPP/QCI familiarity, rigging/signaling knowledge.
+ Experience with AHJ/inspection coordination.
+ Valid driver's license and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
+ Willingness to travel regionally as needed.
Work Environment
The position requires being onsite at projects from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional early starts. The role involves working outdoors in varying conditions and traversing active construction terrain.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mobile, Alabama.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $100000.00/hr.
