Job Title: Firmware Engineer I
Job Description
The main function of a Firmware Engineer is to design, develop, implement, test, and maintain business and computer applications software or specialized utility programs, including mainframe and client/server applications, as well as major enhancements of existing systems.
Responsibilities
+ Fine-tune and improve a variety of sophisticated software implementation projects.
+ Gather and analyze system requirements, document specifications, and develop software solutions to meet client needs and data.
+ Analyze and review enhancement requests and specifications.
+ Implement system software and customize to client requirements.
+ Prepare detailed software specifications and test plans.
+ Code new programs to client specifications and create test data for testing.
+ Modify existing programs to new standards and conduct unit testing of developed programs.
+ Create migration packages for system testing, user testing, and implementation.
+ Provide quality assurance reviews.
+ Perform post-implementation validation of software and resolve any bugs found during testing.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering, or related field.
+ 0-2 years of experience.
+ A solid foundation in computer science with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design.
+ Experience in large systems software design and development.
+ Experience performing in-depth troubleshooting and unit testing with both new and legacy production systems.
+ Proficiency in programming and experience with problem diagnosis and resolution.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with embedded systems test environment creation.
+ Strong debugging skills.
+ Proficiency in Embedded C.
+ System design analysis.

The role requires conducting thorough testing of weekly software builds to ensure functionality and stability, as well as identifying, analyzing, and debugging issues that arise during development. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to validate performance, optimize system integration, and maintain high standards of quality throughout the product lifecycle. The work environment focuses on rigorous testing and problem resolution to deliver reliable, cutting-edge devices to market.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Redmond, Washington.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
