    Job Title: Phlebotomist I (Immediate Hiring)

    Job Description

    As a Phlebotomist I, your primary role is to support the laboratory team by performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and recommending workflow improvements. You will be responsible for collecting and storing specimens in accordance with established procedures while ensuring proper labeling and documentation.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge them as needed.

    + Record maintenance data and perform decontamination.

    + Update patient information as required.

    + Collect and store specimens, explaining procedures clearly and courteously.

    + Demonstrate technique using straight and butterfly needles.

    + Understand and comply with physicians' orders.

    + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

    + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.

    + Ensure 100% accuracy in matching test requisitions to scripts.

    + Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures.

    + Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

    + Attend annual department training sessions.

    + Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

    Essential Skills

    + Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.

    + Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a lab or hospital setting.

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

    + High School Diploma or GED.

    + 1-2 years of recent phlebotomy experience.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Strong customer service skills, with a respectful and understanding approach to patients.

    + Experience with pediatric and geriatric blood draws.

    + Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

    + At least one year of experience preferred.

    Work Environment

    This role requires the individual to perform over 100 draws daily in a Patient Service Center (PSC). The location size varies, and the worker is expected to stand for the majority of the shift. The team specializes in both pediatric and geriatric care. The individual will work as part of a team and undergo approximately one week of training at the start of the role.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntsville, Alabama.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $17.75 - $18.50/hr.
