Job Title: Senior Software Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team in a full-time hybrid capacity at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division. You will play a key role in supporting cyber analysis and cyber development capabilities in response to the Navy's and DoD's needs for Cyber Situational Awareness (SA), Cyber Command and Control (C2), Mission Assurance, and Homeland Defense. This role involves identifying cyber key terrains, conducting cyber analyses and assessments, and developing modeling and simulation for various cyber threat scenarios. You will implement new features within a critical line of business application that supports mission assurance and operational management functions. This position offers the opportunity to enhance your expertise by working alongside a team of software engineering and cybersecurity experts.
Responsibilities
+ Develop or modify software applications from requirements specifications.
+ Design, code, benchmark test, debug, and document application features and changes.
+ Review and assess existing enterprise applications to support new features, performance improvements, upgrades, and ongoing sustainment.
+ Participate in performance, load, and stress testing, and remediation of identified issues.
+ Engage in security architecture reviews of large enterprise systems.
+ Contribute to the development of new systems throughout the entire application lifecycle, including requirements analysis, system design, implementation, testing, deployment, and sustainment.
+ Create documentation, test scripts, and training materials to ensure successful system usage.
+ Work in an agile team environment, participating in sprint planning, retrospectives, reviews, and daily standups.
Essential Skills
+ U.S. Citizenship and active or interim DoD SECRET clearance with ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Clearance.
+ DoDD 8140.01 Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level I certification or higher.
+ Experience in designing, implementing, supporting, and analyzing enterprise-scale applications using technologies such as .NET Core, Angular, TypeScript, C#, and SQL Server.
+ Proficiency with modern development toolsets including Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio, git, unit testing frameworks, and task tracking tools like GitLab.
+ Experience with enterprise-scale applications that perform ETL operations with external data sources and SQL Server.
+ Familiarity with distributed version control tools such as git and mercurial.
+ Comprehensive knowledge in software requirements, design, code, benchmark testing, debugging, software development lifecycle, architecture, and documentation.
+ Additional experience in technologies like ElasticSearch, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and Docker.
+ Ten or more years of experience with at least one OOP language such as C, C++, or Python.
+ Five or more years of experience in Agile software development and microservice architecture, specifically in C#, Angular, TypeScript, and SQL Server.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience working on custom development software projects.
+ Experience with DoD customers.
+ Experience working on cybersecurity projects.
+ Preferred experience with GitLab, Rabbit MQ, and automated testing tools and processes.
Work Environment
This position is primarily remote with occasional on-site requirements to address urgent issues or for quarterly PI planning sessions. Candidates should be local to facilitate on-site presence as needed, typically 2-3 times a month. The team consists of a mix of new and experienced members, with guidance provided by a knowledgeable team member. The project involves collaboration with 100 individuals, including government and contractor personnel across multiple teams. Funding is secured through July 2026, emphasizing the mission-critical nature of the role.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $180000.00/yr.
