The Field Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting the superintendent with front-line field management. This position involves making recommendations, implementing policies and procedures, and handling various field-related tasks. The Field Engineer is essential for project layout, supervision of trade workers, and ensuring quality control and safety on-site.
Responsibilities
+ Project layout (Surveying) in conformance with design and contract documents.
+ Check concrete forms for accuracy and adequacy before concrete placement.
+ Perform production trend analysis for work quantities and report for schedule and cost control.
+ Assist with quality control, site safety initiatives, and coordination of trade partners.
+ Coordinate material deliveries and inspect materials for quantity, quality, and condition.
+ Assist foreman and trade partners with interpretation of plans and specifications.
+ Oversight of trade partners and direction of workforces to gain supervisory experience.
+ Participate in jobsite safety meetings and weekly safety audits.
+ Coordinate during project schedule development and review construction drawings.
+ Conduct civil and structural constructability analysis.
+ Assist project team with field engineering related RFIs.
+ Verify control points and benchmarks with 3rd party surveyors.
+ Attend subcontractor coordination meetings and verify trade conflict resolution.
+ Verify site utility structures and elevations.
+ Compile field engineering specific as-builts and turnover documentation.
+ Submit record of engineering teams’ project hours and maintain field engineering equipment.
+ Report unsafe conditions and enforce compliance.
+ Explore and update on emerging technologies and procedures.
Essential Skills
+ Experience with Trimble GPS, Carlson Survey, Blueprint reading, site layout, CAD software, and total station.
+ 4+ years of experience with Robotics - Trimble S5 and Carlson Survey software.
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and layout software.
+ Ability to interpret and verify construction drawings across architectural, structural, civil, and MEP disciplines.
+ Understanding of civil and structural systems for constructability analysis.
+ Knowledge of plumbing, drainage, and utility systems integration.
+ Familiarity with foundation systems including piers, grade beams, and slab edges.
+ Experience with Tilt Wall Systems and erection tolerances.
+ Surveying and control points experience with licensed surveyors.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ OSHA 10 Certification
+ Proficiency in verifying elevations, lines, and grades for foundations and structural elements.
+ Experience in MEP coordination for leave-outs and penetrations alignment.
Work Environment
The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7 am to 4 pm, with occasional Saturdays as needed. The role provides access to mileage reimbursement during contract terms and a company truck once hired directly.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, Texas.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.
