You'll architect robust SQL Server environments that ensure data integrity, security, and optimal performance. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, you'll translate complex data requirements into efficient database solutions that scale effectively and integrate seamlessly with other applications. Your expertise will be crucial in optimizing database performance, implementing security protocols, and ensuring business continuity through effective backup and recovery strategies. Project Specific Duties You'll design, implement, and maintain moderately complex databases, including maintaining database dictionaries and integrating systems through strategic database design. You'll have the autonomy to work independently on most database administration phases while receiving guidance for more specialized tasks as needed. Position Responsibilities: Install, configure, and maintain on-prem Microsoft SQL Server instances to ensure optimal performance and reliability Monitor database performance and strategically tune queries, indexes, and configurations to maximize efficiency Develop and implement comprehensive SQL backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity Apply patches, updates, and service packs to SQL Server environments while minimizing system downtime Establish and maintain robust database security protocols, roles, and permissions aligned with DoD requirements Design and implement high availability solutions (Always On, clustering, replication) to ensure continuous database operations Perform regular audits and health checks on SQL environments to identify and address potential issues proactively Automate routine tasks using PowerShell or SQL Agent jobs to increase efficiency and reduce manual interventions Troubleshoot and resolve complex database-related issues with minimal impact on operations Collaborate with cross-functional teams on schema design and optimization to meet evolving business requirements Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of database architecture, processes, and procedures Implement data tagging and classification systems to ensure proper handling of sensitive information Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field 5+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA or in a similar database administration role Alternative qualification: Associate's Degree (AA) with 7+ years of relevant database experience Demonstrated expertise in database architecture, performance tuning, and administration Strong proficiency in T-SQL and PowerShell scripting for database management and automation Current CompTIA Security+ certification (required) Microsoft certifications (MCSA, MCSE, Azure Database Administrator Associate) are highly valued Current and Active DoD Secret clearance Company Benefits: At Nexagen, we invest in your wellbeing from day one!
