Job Title: GNC Engineer
Job Description
The GNC Engineer is responsible for ensuring that engineering needs are met and assists in planning and deploying the design of components and their integration into systems. This role requires a multi-disciplinary background including Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C), flight testing, PCB design, software development, and other projects. The engineer will support the development of technical proposals and project estimates, resolving technical and engineering conflicts, and ensuring the engineering needs of assigned product development projects are met.
Responsibilities
+ Document designs and analyses with written reports, presentations, and engineering drawings.
+ Characterize, analyze, test, and troubleshoot control system hardware and software subsystems.
+ Develop and maintain tools to perform robot test data reduction and analysis.
+ Perform linearization of nonlinear models, and linear and non-linear controls analysis and algorithm design for stability, robustness, and performance.
+ Analyze systems and flight test data to support model improvements and root cause investigation of failures and anomalies.
+ Participate in and lead GN&C-related design requirements development and design reviews.
+ Develop and maintain reusable software and GN&C design components and integrate them into new designs.
+ Work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
+ Determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel (Team Lead).
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in guidance, navigation, and control (GNC).
+ Experience with R&D, research & development, and controls.
+ Experience with fixed wing and rotorcraft systems.
+ Proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink.
+ Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with 8-10 years of experience, or a Master's degree in Aerospace with 2+ years of experience including coursework in GNC.
+ Flight test experience and controls design, specifically in designing controllers.
+ Experience in Aerospace and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Knowledge of Ardupilot software is advantageous
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $170000.00/yr.
