Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Description

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in a commercial or industrial setting. This role also involves operating machine tools and assembling parts to fabricate tools, mechanisms, and machines for experimental and production purposes.

Responsibilities

+ Inspect and test machinery and equipment to ensure proper functioning.

+ Diagnose malfunctions by listening for unusual sounds and consulting with supervisors or other maintenance staff.

+ Dismantle defective machines and equipment; install new or repaired parts.

+ Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other machinery components.

+ Install and repair electrical apparatus, including transformers, wiring, and electronic components.

+ Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.

+ Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.

+ Install, program, and repair automated machinery and equipment.

+ Troubleshoot, repair, install, and program Omron PLCs.

+ Set up and operate machine tools (lathe, grinder, drill, milling machine) to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.

+ Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.

+ Consult with engineers and other personnel regarding equipment design, capacity, and purpose.

+ Analyze specifications, drawings, sketches, and instructions to plan layout and sequence of operations.

+ Design fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts for special engineering needs.

+ Verify conformance of machined parts to specifications.

+ Install parts and materials such as sheet metal, hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, lubricants, and batteries.

+ Recommend changes for efficiency and adaptability through Kaizen activities.

Essential Skills

+ Ability to operate milling machines, lathes, and surface grinders accurately.

+ Understanding of tolerances and precision measurements.

+ Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to ensure correct part dimensions.

+ Familiarity with CNC machines for setup, operation, and minor programming adjustments.

+ Knowledge of maintaining and troubleshooting machining tools to minimize downtime.

+ Ability to perform minor welding tasks when needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience/training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

+ Certificate from trade school or alternative certification in electrical, mechanical, or welding applications.

+ Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

+ Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

+ Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.

+ Basic algebra skills.

+ Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Environment

Work in a fast-paced and high-volume environment, often in a production setting with frequent machine operation and inspection tasks. The company promotes teamwork and open dialogue, aiming to create a sense of ownership and camaraderie among employees. You will regularly be required to stand, walk, sit, use your hands, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and communicate. You must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and frequently lift/move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. Expect regular exposure to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes/airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Possible exposure to outside weather conditions, with hearing protection required due to noise levels. Work long hours and overtime, with many roles requiring mandatory overtime, often 5–6 days a week with 10–12 hour shifts. The shift is from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM on a rotating schedule of 4 days on, 4 days off.

This is a Permanent position based out of Tell City, Indiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55848.00 - $60320.00/yr.
