Job Title: Machinist 1st Shift

Job Description

As a Precision Machining Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and performing precision machining operations on equipment such as lathes, mills, and grinders. You will ensure that machines are maintained according to the schedule and fabricate parts to specifications using drawings and sketches. Your role will involve collaboration with maintenance technicians to troubleshoot machine malfunctions and fabricate components to support proper machine operation.

Responsibilities

+ Set up lathes, mills, and grinders for precision machining operations.

+ Perform standard maintenance on machinery as per schedule.

+ Utilize drawings, sketches, and measurements to set up machines accurately.

+ Fabricate parts to specifications based on machine setups.

+ Collaborate with maintenance technicians to identify and fabricate new machine parts.

+ Assist in troubleshooting machine malfunctions and provide improvement ideas.

+ Ensure components are fabricated precisely for optimal machine operation.

+ Maintain a clean and orderly workshop in accordance with 6S principles.

+ Utilize correct PPE at all times for general and specialized job functions.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in setting up and operating mills, lathes, and grinders.

+ Experience in machine maintenance and troubleshooting.

+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.

+ Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude.

+ Hands-on experience in machining operations.

+ Computer skills for managing machine operations.

+ Standing for 8-hour shifts in a fast-paced work environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ High school diploma required.

+ Experience in a manufacturing environment.

+ Ability to lift up to 30lbs - 50lbs.

+ Steel-toed or composite shoes required during shifts and interviews.

Work Environment

Work in a manufacturing environment with a Monday to Friday schedule from 7am to 3:30pm. Be prepared to suit up in the production areas, adhering to safety and dress code requirements. The work involves fast-paced, repetitive tasks, requiring standing for extended periods.

Job Type & Location

This is a position based out of Belen, New Mexico.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.75 - $23.00/hr.
