Position Summary/Description:
A SIGN -ON BONUS OF $7,500 IS AVAILABLE FOR THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT OF THIS POSITION PAID IN 2 INSTALLMENTS WITHIN 12 MONTHS OF HIRE :
$3,750 WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE DATE & $3,750 12 MONTHS AFTER HIRE DATE .
The Assistant Director- HVAC Operations is responsible for managing Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning ( HVAC ), which includes maintaining, optimizing, and improving indoor air quality, energy efficiency, and occupant thermal comfort in support of the University’s teaching, research, and public service mission. Ensure the proper functioning of certain refrigerated food service equipment, critical scientific refrigeration, and specialized laboratory environmental controls.
Education and Experience:
Preference for Registered Professional Engineer in State of North Carolina. Experience in troubleshooting and repair of large Direct Expansion (DX) and refrigeration equipment. Experience in variable refrigerant flow systems, environmental chambers, DX zone systems and controllers, dehumidification systems, boilers, refrigerators, ice machines, and large capacity air dryers. Knowledge in electrical, plumbing, and equipment installation. Licensure as a refrigeration contractor, heating contractor, certification in ultra-low temperature refrigeration equipment, and/or a diploma in industrial or HVAC technical trades.
Essential Skills:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of mechanical engineering with direct experience in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Experience in the installation, operation and maintenance of such systems, and a working knowledge of codes, laws, and ordinances pertaining to these systems. Ability to review mechanical system designs and interpret related plans and specifications. Effective communication skills, both oral and written. Supervisory experience.
Ability to serve as a mandatory employee and report to work in support of essential (mandatory) University operations, even when adverse weather or other emergency conditions may require the University to close.
A valid NC Driver’s License or ability to obtain one prior to start date.
