What will you be doing in this role?
The Manager, Social Work ensures the adequacy of social work support in the ambulatory setting, and the proficiency, excellence and professional development of all outpatient social workers. Directly supervises social workers in certain business units; partners with operational leaders to provide social work consultation and support in decentralized business units. Creates a "hub and spoke" organizational structure providing social work subject matter expertise across all ambulatory sites of care. The Manager understands the diverse needs of primary and specialty care to support the unique needs of each clinical area.
The Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, direction and controlling of the daily operations of assigned areas in order to meet the needs of all constituents in support of Health System requirements. The position facilitates change, encouraging innovation and self-development to achieve excellence in operations, patient safety, leveraging of community resources and quality. The Manager, Social Work defines the mission for ambulatory social work, oversees planning and goal setting, budget preparation, promotes the maximum growth and development of each employee, and supports teaching.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
+ Collaborates with operational and medical leaders, inpatient and ambulatory care management, Community Connect, and leaders in population health/value-based care, throughout the Medical Network, TMIPA and CSMC licensed clinics, to provide compliant social work support throughout the ambulatory setting.
+ Ensures compliance with state and federal laws, accreditation, professional and regulatory agency standards and licensure requirements. Maintains all social work staff compliance with medical center policies, procedures and protocols.
+ Provides leadership coaching and opportunities for professional development to facilitate self-directed work processes, collaboration and focus on quality patient care outcomes.
+ Establishes and holds self and others accountable to meeting goals related to developing an effective workforce within assigned units. Complies with all contract agreements and human resources, regulatory and organizational policies.
+ Ensures staff is accountable for meeting customer satisfaction goals for assigned units. Recognizes and initiates opportunities for improvement in patient/family service.
+ Supervises the delivery of patient care and ensures optimal levels and continuous improvement of clinical and service quality within the unit for all service line customers. Recognizes and initiates opportunities for improvement in interdisciplinary team member service.
+ Collaborates with other system managers and clinical/support service managers in cross functional process improvement, collaborative teamwork, open communication and problem solving to ensure the effective coordination and integration of services with and between units.
+ Assumes fiscal responsibility for any supervised units including budget preparation, labor and supply cost management, and revenue enhancement.
+ Attends patient care rounds to observe social workers skills in leading the rounds and work collaboratively with Care Management to provide an educational program to expand the skill set of Social workers.
+ Personally manages complex patient care cases and provides advice to social workers and others for any cases escalated to manager.
Qualifications
Education
+ Master's Degree in Social Work required
+ Doctorate Degree in Social Work or related field preferred
Work Experience
+ 5 years Acute hospital care leadership experience required
Licenses and Certifications
+ Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required
+ Certified Case Manager (CCM) or Accredited Case Manager (ACM) preferred
