    Toyota Integrated Vehicle Systems Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated ADAS (Advanced Driving Assistance Systems) Evaluation Engineer.

     

    The primary responsibility of this role is to define performance requirements and evaluate current and future ADAS technologies that shape the future of mobility. From hands-on vehicle testing to data-driven insights, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our systems meet the highest standards of safety and customer satisfaction.

     

    Reporting to Senior Manager, the person in this role will support the Integrated Vehicle Systems Department’s mission to deliver innovative, customer-centric driving solutions that enhance safety and elevate the driving experience.

     

    What You’ll Be Doing

     

    As an ADAS Evaluation Engineer in our Automated Performance and Applications Department (APAD), you’ll be at the forefront of validating Toyota’s next-generation driving technologies. Your work will directly impact how our vehicles perform in real-world conditions and how customers experience advanced driving features.

     

    + Lead performance validation of ADS/ADAS systems in collaboration with internal teams and Tier-1 suppliers.

    + Conduct hands-on vehicle evaluations in closed tracks, public roads, and simulated environments.

    + Configure, modify, and troubleshoot test vehicles, sensors, and data acquisition systems.

    + Develop and standardize evaluation protocols, test cases, and check sheets to ensure consistent and reliable testing.

    + Champion the voice of the customer by integrating feedback, competitive analysis, and social trends into system evaluations.

    + Drive function performance by setting evaluation goals, managing timelines, and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs).

    + Present clear, data-driven reports that tell compelling stories through visualizations and logical insights.

    + Build and enhance software tools to automate data collection, analysis, simulation, and validation processes.

    + Propose improvements to existing systems based on usability and customer acceptance data.

    + Collaborate cross-functionally to optimize technology and resources for maximum efficiency and innovation.

     

    What you bring

     

    We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is excited to shape the future of mobility. To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

     

    + Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.

    + 2+ years of experience evaluating ADS/ADAS systems, including developing or modifying KPIs.

    + 1+ years of experience coding for data analysis using Python, C++, MATLAB, or similar languages.

    + Hands-on experience with simulated test environments like HILS (Hardware-in-the-Loop) or SILS (Software-In-The-Loop).

    + Proficiency in CAN communication protocols and tools such as CANoe.

    + Experience with software development in shared repositories (e.g., Git, SVN).

    + Ability to develop applications or post-processing tools for analyzing vehicle or simulation test data.

    + Willingness to travel domestically/internationally (~25%) and work overtime as needed (~25% per week).

    + A valid U.S. driver’s license.

     

    Added Bonus If You Have

    These qualifications will help you accelerate your impact and growth in the role:

    + Experience with vehicle evaluation and tuning.

    + Prior experience in vehicle development at Toyota or a Tier 1 Toyota supplier.

    + Working knowledge of radar, camera, and sonar systems in automotive applications.

    + Experience installing and troubleshooting data acquisition systems (e.g., CANoe, Vbox, RTK).

    + Familiarity with continuous integration tools like Azure DevOps Pipelines or Jenkins.

    + Experience using cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) for automated data analysis.
