    The Role

     

    The Manager level 2 leader serving this role and the supporting staff team shall possess ample experience in CVN 78 Class design processes and products, preferentially from an Electrical, I&C, Networks, and Automation perspective, including supporting system hardware and requirements. The manager selected will serve and lead a team focused on the program and technical management, leadership, and advancement for the Ford Class Machinery Control Monitoring System (MCMS). MCMS is the largest Naval network operating many Ford Class ship systems via automation. This responsibility includes Ford Class new construction, ISEA, and other In-Service necessities. Additionally, the manager selected will serve and lead a team responsible for advancing E44 engineering products, representing the E44 team for said products, and including advocating/facilitating urgencies, cost savings projects, process improvements, and special attention projects. As such, the individual selected, and their team, will work in partnership with current E44 leadership, Aircraft Carrier Engineering – Ship Design Managers, and NAVSEA customers. The position requires an engaging individual who desires to provide team and individual leadership & mentoring. The position requires proactive and responsive engagement with all customers, internal and external.

     

    Must Have

     

    Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design; Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience.

     

    Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

    Nice to Have

    + Practical experience in project management is preferred.

    + Effective time management skills. Must have the ability to manage projects and prioritize work effectively to support end product needs.

    + Experience working effectively on cross-functional teams; specifically experience interfacing with various software disciplines.

    + Functional knowledge and capability to use MS office tools (e.g., word, excel, etc.).

    + Strong written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable presenting to small or larger audiences.
