What You’ll Do:
+ Prepare and analyze financial statements for Affordable Living properties.
+ Reconcile general ledger and bank accounts monthly.
+ Track cash balances, execute transfers, and maintain accurate records.
+ Oversee HUD and MSHDA reporting requirements.
+ Manage grants and ensure compliance with regulations.
+ Serve as the go-to resource for financial inquiries from Affordable Living staff.
+ Participate in annual audits and recommend process improvements.
What We’re Looking For:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
+ 2+ years of general ledger accounting experience preferred.
+ Knowledge of HUD requirements and GAAP standards.
+ Advanced Excel skills and ability to work in a paperless environment.
+ Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
+ Work is remote to those residing within the state of Michigan.

Applies accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely journal entries and financial reports while maintaining appropriate control over procedures for all Affordable Living/Housing of Urban Development (HUD) properties.
Duties and Responsibilities
+ Reconcile and maintain schedules on various general ledger accounts monthly and prepare various journal entries for posting to general ledger.
+ Maintain current knowledge of relevant HUD industry and regulations.
+ Compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial statements for Affordable Living properties.
+ Reconcile bank accounts monthly.
+ Track cash balances daily, execute bank transfers weekly, and record cash activity.
+ Prepare required government reports for HUD facilities and MSHDA homes.
+ Create and manage excel spreadsheets for reporting, tracking, and analysis purposes.
+ Oversee grants awarded to Affordable Living, ensure compliance with regulations, monitor spending, and complete reporting requirements.
+ Serve as the primary contact for Affordable Living staff regarding financial inquiries.
+ Prepare schedules for and participate in the Samaritas annual audit process.
+ Analyze financial information; provide recommendations and solutions to Supervisor, Affordable Living (HUD) to improve workflow processes and meet department and organizational objectives.
+ And any other duties needed to further the Mission of our Organization.

Job Qualifications
Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification
+ Bachelor's degree in accounting, or related field.
Experience
+ Preferred: Two years in general ledger accounting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
+ Maintain current knowledge of relevant financial Samaritas policies and accounting regulations (GAAP).
+ Knowledge of HUD requirements.
+ Able to demonstrate the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities.
+ Ability to perform job functions with a high degree of accuracy.
+ Ability to apply principles of logical or mathematical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
+ Advanced ability to understand, analyze and interpret reports, statistical and financial data.
+ Ability to operate with minimal direct supervision.
+ Advanced proficiency in utilizing various computer applications, including and not limited to Word and Excel. Excellent data-entry skills.
+ Ability to maximize technology and perform work in a paperless environment.
+ Ability and willingness to work as part of a team in achieving common goals. Ability to work constructively with staff and other stakeholders.
+ Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural context.
+ Ability to speak, read and write fluent English. Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to prepare letters, summaries and reports using prescribed format and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style.
+ Ability to manage multiple functions of a complex Organization.
+ Ability to adapt and pivot in a changing environment.
