    Job Title: Chemical Dependency CounselorDepartment: Chemical Dependency Location: Behavioral Health Center - 20 Cottage St, Potsdam NY 13676

     

    Hours Per Week: 37.5Schedule: 8:00AM - 4:00PM Weekend shifts: Yes, weekend day shifts 1-2x per month.SUMMARY:Performs all functions of counselor practice as outlined by NYS OASAS. Focus includes the development and implementation of individualized patient treatment plan with emphasis on counseling and guidance of recovery process.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + (15%) Works collaborative with medical team to develop treatment planning strategies.

    + (10%) Responsible for making appropriate referrals and discharge planning of patients.

    + (40%) Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient records.

    + (25%) Participate in daily group counseling efforts of the unit.

    + (10%) Responsible for acting as the primary Individual Counselor for patients in their recovery process.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Two years of college with specialization in chemical dependency or other human services area.

    + BLS

    + Two years of continuous abstinence, if recovering.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    + CASAC-T

    + One year of full-time employment in an inpatient setting.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    S - Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

    The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
