The opportunity:
The Environmental Engineer is responsible for assisting the Environmental Manager to ensure that environmental compliance is maintained at a large, fully integrated Kraft pulp mill.
How you will impact WestRock:
* Implement programs and prepare a variety of regulatory reports which require data collection, calculations, accurate recordkeeping, and an adherence to regulatory deadlines. Includes NPDES, Potable Water, Surface Water, Groundwater, Solid Waste, Universal Waste, and Hazardous Waste programs.
* Work with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies to obtain and maintain environmental permits.
* Maintain required documents in a concise, thorough "audit-ready" manner.
* Provide environmental training to both hourly and salaried employees.
* Support Operations and Maintenance in reviewing environmental controls systems.
* Assist with other environmental programs, including Title V, MACT, Greenhouse Gas, EPCRA, CERCLA, and SPCC, as needed.
* Support WestRock\u2019s Sustainability efforts to meet carbon and water reduction targets and to increase recycling and beneficial reuse.
* Participate in the on-call weekend duty rotation.
What you need to succeed:
* B.S. in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or B.S. in Environmental Science or other engineering or science degree.
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental compliance at a manufacturing facility. Pulp and Paper experience is preferred.
* Proficient computer skills, including experience with PI System and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
