INTERN, QUANTITATIVE ANALYST (La Crosse, WI)
_Hourly Wage: $26.00 | Anticipated Start Date: January 1, 2026_
The Quantitative Analyst Intern will assist in supporting the cooperative’s strategic decision-making processes by contributing to data analysis efforts, helping to develop predictive models, and providing insights to drive informed decisions. This internship will focus on applying statistical and analytical techniques to support the cooperative's strategic goals while offering opportunities to learn and grow in a collaborative environment.
The Impact You'll Make In This Role:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Collaborate with senior staff and business teams to understand and address data-driven challenges in the energy industry.
2. Assist in applying quantitative tools and techniques to analyze data effectively.
3. Support cross-team collaboration to improve transparency and operational efficiency.
4. Help in developing and maintaining models to support business strategies, such as energy generation and portfolio management.
5. Apply statistical methods under guidance to refine models and support market decision-making.
6. Assist with data exploration and analysis to provide insights into structured and unstructured datasets.
7. Support the interpretation of data analysis and contribute to presentations for stakeholders.
8. Learn to source, integrate, and structure datasets to aid in analytics and decision-making processes.
9. Assist in building and maintaining data pipelines and workflows to ensure data accessibility.
10. Work on basic data analysis tools and predictive models using statistical techniques, with exposure to machine learning and artificial intelligence concepts.
11. Help maintain dashboards and reporting tools to ensure insights are accessible across the organization.
12. Communicate findings and insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
13. Perform other duties as assigned to support department goals and objectives.
Your Experience and Expertise:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** **:
Education & Experience: Currently pursuing either an undergraduate or graduate degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or another related field.
Skills: Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with individuals of various technical backgrounds. Ability to manage confidential information. Excellent attention to detail. Strong analytical, planning, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Self-starter with the ability to work independently. Proficient in one or more scientific computing languages (Python preferred). Experience constructing statistical and/or machine learning models. Experience in one or more of the following: Cloud Computing, Version Control, Power BI, SQL, is advantageous.
