Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Adjunct Instructor – Criminal Justice (Part-Time) position in the Business & Public Safety Technology department of the Academic & Student Affairs division. This position is located at Atlanta Tech's Main campus just south of Downtown Atlanta.
Under the general supervision of the Dean of Business and Public Service Technologies and the Chair of Criminal Justice department, the Adjunct Instructor – Criminal Justice (Part-Time) will be responsible for teaching Forensic Science within the Criminal Justice Division. This role involves teaching and supervising students in forensic science-related courses, including but not limited to: Trace Evidence; Death Investigations; Introduction to Forensic Science; Latent Print Examination; and Other related topics. This is a part-time position, up to twenty-nine (29) hours per week.
Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
+ D eliver professional instruction based on approved course syllabi, emphasizing forensic science principles and practices.
+ Ensure course outcomes align with stated objectives, particularly in forensic science education.
+ Develop course outlines, goals, and objectives tailored to forensic science topics.
+ Evaluate student progress toward learning outcomes.
+ Prepare lesson plans for both classroom and lab instruction in forensic science and crime scene investigation.
+ Administer and grade examinations; maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance.
+ Engage with students, staff, and faculty to support student success and address instructional concerns.
+ Assist in the development and review of program content, syllabi, and curriculum standards.
+ Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
+ Support recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts, especially for students pursuing careers in forensic science.
+ Stay current with industry practices and technologies in forensic science and related fields.
+ Participate in professional development activities, including in-service training, workshops, and seminars.
+ Maintain program certification requirements.
+ Adhere to and enforce policies and procedures outlined by the Technical College System of Georgia and ATC ; and
+ Perform additional duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications :
Must possess and demonstrate a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with five (5) years of related experience AND the ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, and Saturdays .
PREFERRED Qualifications :
Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess and demonstrate the following:
+ Master’s degree in a Forensics related field and/or three (3) or more years of teaching / training experience.
+ Completion of at least 18 graduate credit hours in Forensic Science or a closely related discipline.
+ A minimum of three years of teaching experience or relevant professional experience (qualifying experience may substitute for formal teaching or graduate coursework).
+ Proven expertise in forensic science and its related fields, demonstrated through academic, professional, or instructional experience.
+ Excellent interpersonal communication, organizational, and leadership skills, with a commitment to student success and collaborative engagement
** Note: Experience may substitute in lieu of formal teaching experience.
* May be required to teach at other locations and other locations within the community. *
