Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for the Financial Aid Technician (Full-Time) position in our Financial Aid division. This position is located at Atlanta Technical College’s Main Campus, just south of Downtown Atlanta.
Under the general supervision of the Director of Financial Aid, the Financial Aid Technician (Full-Time) is responsible for performing professional and administrative duties associated with the delivery of student financial aid services.
The job duties include, but may not be limited to, the following:
• Assist and instruct students in completing financial aid forms and applications, ensuring accuracy and providing updates on the status of their aid.
• Responsible for opening and/or closing the Office of Financial Aid each day.
• Provide professional, high-quality customer service with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Professionally provide and disseminate information to students, parents, and the public regarding available Financial Aid resources and programs.
• Perform administrative, clerical, and customer service duties in support of the Office of Financial Aid.
• Evaluate Financial Aid applications and supporting documents for accuracy, clarity, and completeness to determine basic eligibility for Financial Aid.
• Update appropriate BANNER forms and other Financial Aid Software related to the document intake process.
• Analyze and determine the status of applications and forms and refer complex situations to the appropriate Financial Aid Specialist.
• Manage the Office of Financial Aid email account, front desk telephones, and QLess ticketing system.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES:
• Knowledge of student financial aid processes and procedures
• Knowledge of State and Federal Financial Aid programs, regulations, and guidelines
• Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs
• Ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and the public
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers using tact, patience, and courtesy, both orally and in writing
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess and demonstrate a High School diploma or equivalent AND One (1) year of work-related experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess and demonstrate the following:
• Associate's degree or higher from an accredited college or university AND Two (2) years of related work experience
• Experience working in administration within a Financial Aid Office
• Experience in Banner Financial Aid Module
Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
