    Description

    Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative student intern to join our Cardiometabolic Disease Research department located at our Ridgefield, Connecticut facility. As a student intern, you will use hydrogel structuration and cellular micropatterning to study novel biology relevant to our therapeutic concepts. You will be responsible for developing this department’s micropatterning toolbox and applying that toolbox to generate novel hypotheses about disease pathomechanisms.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    + Complete a research project focused on developing hydrogel structuration and cellular micropatterning techniques for mimicking physiological growth and differentiation conditions of kidney cell types. To perform this duty you will need to:

    + Forecast and adhere to realistic timelines and goals.

    + Understand how your studies support departmental goals.

    + Plan and execute experiments and analyze the resulting data.

    + Good record keeping. Maintain detailed lab notebooks.

    + Produce working protocols for others to continue using after your Co-Op period concludes.

    + Integrate within the cardiometabolic disease research department and identify collaborators who will benefit from your new techniques. Begin collaborations wherein you generate data useful to their projects.

    + Communicate your work in lab, group, and departmental presentations.

    Requirements

    + Must be a current undergraduate, graduate or advanced degree student in good academic standing.

    + Student must be enrolled at an accredited college or university for the duration of the **internship** .

    + Overall cumulative minimum GPA from last completed quarter/semester 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) preferred.

    + Major or minor in related field of **internship** .

    + Graduate and advanced degree students must have completed at least 9 credit hours at current college or university.

    Compensation:

    **Eligibility Requirements** :

    + Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

    + Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).

    + Must be 18 years of age or older.

    Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities

    + Cell culture experience with primary cells and cell lines.

    + Knowledge of micropatterning and hydrogel structuration.

    + Basic knowledge of data analysis

    + Experience in conducting small research projects
