Description of Work Unit
The Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology expands the frontiers of
knowledge through our broad-based expertise in applied ecology, quantitative methods, and human dimensions in the conservation and management of fish and wildlife. We teach students to think critically about environmental issues and become ecologically literate citizens with the training to be successful in graduate school and in careers with natural resources agencies, private firms, non-government organizations, and academia. Our outreach efforts contribute significantly to life-long learning by assisting individuals and agencies to solve complex environmental problems and to be good stewards of our nation’s natural resources.

Position Summary
Stream fishes are among the most imperiled vertebrates, and lotic ecosystems face growing challenges related to water use, land-use change, nonnative species, disturbance, changing climate, and expanding human populations. To address these challenges, we seek candidates who can develop a locally to internationally recognized multidisciplinary research program addressing the complexities of sustaining stream fishes and their ecosystems. Candidates will also be expected to deliver excellent undergraduate courses for students in all three concentrations of the major inFish,Wildlife, and Conservation Biology.

Required Job Qualifications
+ An earned Ph.D. in Freshwater Science, Biology, Ecology, Fish and Wildlife Biology, Conservation Biology or a related field by time of appointment
+ Demonstrated ability to develop a strong externally-funded research program
+ Research focus in stream fish ecology, conservation, and management
+ Must be eligible to work in the United States by the proposed start date. CSU will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

+ Record of scholarly publication
+ Demonstrated excellence and interest in University teaching and student mentoring
+ Ability to communicate scientific knowledge and collaborate with practitioners, managers, policy makers, and the public
+ Experience working collaboratively and across disciplines and agencies including state and federal agencies, and non-government organizations
