Job Title- Database Architect

Job Location- Onsite- Newport Beach, CA, USA

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator to manage and maintain our database systems, ensuring optimal performance, data integrity, and availability. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with backup and recovery best practices, disaster recovery planning, and strong documentation and communication skills. Familiarity with cloud platforms, monitoring tools, and database automation is highly desirable.

In this role, you will

+ Implement and maintain best practices for **backup/recovery, disaster recovery, and data integrity** across all database environments.

+ Create and maintain clear, comprehensive **documentation** for database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

+ Perform **database patching** and automate patching processes using scripting tools.

+ Monitor database performance and health using tools such as **LogicMonitor, Idera, and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)** .

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support **database migration, cross-platform upgrades, and cloud database deployments** (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL).

+ Assist in planning and implementing **data warehousing and ETL processes** .

+ Ensure compliance with **regulatory standards** such as **GDPR, HIPAA** , and other relevant data protection regulations.

+ Contribute to **database architecture planning** and long-term strategy development.

+ Provide support and troubleshooting for **PostgreSQL** and other database platforms as needed.

What you’ll need to succeed (required skills)

+ Proven experience in database administration and support

+ Strong understanding of backup/recovery strategies and disaster recovery planning.

+ Excellent communication and documentation skills.

+ Experience with cloud database platforms (AWS RDS, Azure SQL).

+ Familiarity with monitoring tools (LogicMonitor, Idera, OEM).

+ Scripting experience for database patching automation.

Preferred skills: what will help you stand out

+ Exposure to PostgreSQL databases.

+ Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL processes.

+ Experience with database migration and cross-platform upgrades.

+ Understanding of regulatory compliance in database environments.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $73,000 to $112,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
