About the Role

We’re seeking a compassionate and experienced Special Education Teacher to support middle school students with diverse learning needs in Manitowoc, WI. This role focuses on individualized instruction, collaboration with families and staff, and helping students develop academic, social, and life skills.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

? Prepare student education plans in consultation with parents and team members

? Support students with a wide range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities

? Design instruction that parallels the general education curriculum

? Collaborate with parents, administrators, specialists, and social workers to develop educational plans

? Prepare materials and classrooms for instruction

? Coordinate IEP implementation with general education staff

? Monitor student progress and revise IEPs as needed

? Maintain accurate student records

? Mentor and support teaching assistants

? Assist students with grade transitions and life skills preparation

? Assess student skills and track performance

? Communicate with other teachers and parents regarding student progress

? Follow school district policies and procedures

Minimum Requirements

? DPI License (or in progress)

? Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred)

? Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations

? Minimum of 1 year experience in a teaching environment (preferred)

? Certification Types (preferred):

+ Standard Elementary Teaching

+ Standard Secondary Teaching

+ Standard Special Teaching

? Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) (preferred)

? Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

? Completion of Amergis' Competency Program (if applicable)

? Current CPR certification (if applicable)

? TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray (if applicable)

? Current Health Certificate (per contract/state regulation)

? Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements

? Successful completion of new hire training (as applicable)

? Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements

? Strong communication skills; proficiency in English required

? Computer proficiency required

? Must be at least 18 years of age
