A Day in the Life
Medtronic Diabetes is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Training & Development to lead the transformation of learning and development (L&D) across the Americas region. This strategic leadership role is responsible for designing and executing a high-impact learning ecosystem that leverages cutting-edge technology, AI-powered tools, digital content, and remote learning platforms to drive commercial excellence. The leader will have strategic foresight, operational discipline, and inspirational leadership, with proven experience in building high-performing teams, optimizing training delivery at scale, and aligning learning initiatives to broader business goals.
This position is an exciting opportunity to work with Medtronic's Diabetes business. Medtronic has announced its intention to separate the Diabetes division to promote future growth and innovation within the business and reallocate investments and resources across Medtronic, subject to applicable information and consultation requirements. This separation provides our team with a bold opportunity to unleash our potential, enabling us to operate with greater speed and agility. As a separate entity, we anticipate leveraging increased investments to drive meaningful innovation and enhance our impact on patient care.
This position location preferred in San Antonio, TX
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
+ Develops overall organizational training and development roadmap.
+ Works across the matrixed organization to understand the vision, mission, and needs to create and execute a strategic plan to meet or exceed organizational goals.
+ Obtains information needed to prepare in-house training programs; prepares training materials; develops course content; determines methodology; and coordinates the development of training aids.
+ Ensures training program(s) meets company and customer objectives through measured KPIs/OKRs.
+ Maintains communication with customers to ensure effectiveness of training.
+ Hire, retain, and lead a team of professional trainers with technical expertise.
+ Continuously improve lesson plans to meet new training requirements and to keep technical information up to date.
Leadership
+ Accountable for leading teams through an engaged blend of strategic, operational, and tactical activities within training and development.
+ The Senior Director will oversee multiple managers or large, complex teams, often with six or more direct reports and broader indirect influence across the organization.
+ A significant portion of time is devoted to shaping functional direction, overseeing execution of strategic priorities, and ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide goals.
+ Senior Director is responsible for organizational performance, workforce planning, and structural optimization, as well as developing and executing plans that drive business outcomes and elevate team capability.
+ This responsibility will span the Americas with close partnership and coordination with the International team.

Preferred Knowledge & Experience
+ **Extensive experience leading large-scale learning and development strategies** across diverse geographies, with a proven track record of driving workforce capability, performance, and business results.
+ **Deep expertise in instructional design, digital learning technologies, and enablement platforms** , including learning management systems (LMS), learning experience platforms (LXP), and data-driven analytics tools.
+ **Demonstrated success operating in complex, matrixed organizations** , influencing senior leaders, and aligning regional initiatives with global transformation and growth objectives.
+ **Strong business and financial acumen** , with the ability to connect talent and learning strategies to measurable outcomes in sales growth, customer experience, and operational excellence.
Must Have Requirements:
+ Bachelor’s degree and 15+ years of relevant experience with 10+ years of managerial experience
+ Or, advanced degree with 13+ years of relevant experience with 10+ years of managerial experience

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$207,200.00 - $310,800.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
