Job Description
General Scope of Duties
Perform custodial maintenance duties including dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors,
vacuuming and shampooing carpets, cleaning and restocking restrooms, and assist with ice, snow and other debris removal activities.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Priority Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Dust, sweep, mop and vacuum and strip and wax floors, stairways and corridors. Empty trash
receptacles and bag trash for proper disposal.
2. Determine type of chemicals and equipment necessary for specific cleaning tasks
3. Clean restrooms and restock paper and soap supplies
4. Clean windows, walls, furniture and other items as assigned or as necessary
5. Properly lock and unlock doors for cleaning purposes; ensure all windows and doors are secured
as appropriate when leaving
General Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Set up rooms for various functions using a work order for direction
2. Perform routine maintenance to custodial equipment and maintain/order supplies
3. Operate a service vehicle as required to perform duties
4. Available for call back and scheduled overtime, as required
5. Other duties as assigned or as necessary
Education and Skills
1. Ability to lift/push/pull 50 pounds.
2. A combination of education and experience that provides a demonstrated knowledge of custodial duties
3. Ability to effectively and safely operate a variety of tools and equipment necessary to carry out
assignments including buffers, carpet shampooer and various types of vacuums
4. Ability to communicate effectively, read work orders and understand safety procedures
5. Ability to safely use chemicals required for the job
6. Able to work independently with little direction
7. Well-organized, able to work under pressure
8. Ability to interact well with a variety of people from all areas of the college and community
9. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
