A Brief Overview
The Intern will gain practical experience variety of semi-skilled mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) or general work in connection with the maintenance and repair on a variety of equipment and systems. The nature of work involves physical effort and dexterity in the use of appropriate tools. The Intern is assigned to take direction and assist tradesperson, for the duration of an assignment. May be assigned to perform tasks requiring less skill independently. As an Intern, s/he will develop hands-on experience in safety, trades and professional development.

What you will do
+ Assists in inspection, maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems.
+ Assists in the repair of building interiors such as doors, walls, and furnishings throughout the hospital.
+ Handles hazardous waste/material including replacing batteries in faucets and replacing burned out fluorescent lamps.
+ Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs.
+ Intern will be responsible for keeping records, timecards, work requests, material slips, log book entries, charts, and record sheets accurate, legible and turned into supervisor in a timely manner.
+ Interns will be required to abide by all Joint Commission requirements including, but not limited to, sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patients’ rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, participation in ongoing education and training, communication and adherence to safety and quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, and licensure and health screenings.
+ Interns will join us in our C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital. C-I-CARE is the foundation of Stanford’s patient-experience and represents a framework for patient-centered interactions.
Education Qualifications
+ Enrolled or have completed the San Jose City College (SJCC) – Facilities Maintenance Technology (FMT) program or closely related field
+ Have enough time to commit to a minimum of six (6) consecutive months

+ Ability to be detail-oriented and to function with interruptions

+ Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive material
+ Ability to multi-task in a busy environment with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency
+ Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English effectively at a level appropriate for the job
+ Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area
+ Knowledge of HIPAA and how to be compliant in the workplace.
+ Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance and repair

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $26.06 - $33.23 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
