Job Overview

Fairview is looking for an experienced Carpenter to join our Fairview Southdale team in Edina, MN. The Carpenter performs such tasks as necessary to keep doors, windows, hardware etc. in good working order, works on minor remodeling projects and builds counters and cabinets as necessary. The Carpenter performs assignments following industry accepted procedures and hospital and department guidelines in order to maintain a safe, comfortable environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Position Details:

+ 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period)

+ day shift

+ no weekends

Job Responsibilities:

+ Responsible for the construction of rough and finished carpentry, repair and installation of locks, doors, and windows.

+ Construct and maintain all types of woodwork and structural framework according to established procedures.

+ Confirm dimension on projects to conform to proper size.

+ Ensures all projects are square, level, and plumb according to plan

+ Installs and inspects fixtures and accessories in accordance with all codes and installation instructions.

+ Demonstrates knowledge and skills of carpentry techniques in cabinet making, refinishing, floor and wall repair, glass replacement, operating hardware etc

+ Maintains sufficient inventory of materials and supplies based on routine and scheduled projects

+ Install locks and change lock combinations according to established procedures.

+ Cut keys and maintain key control records.

Required Qualifications

+ Vocational/Technical Training or Associate of Arts Associate Degree

+ 5 years experience in finished carpentry or cabinetry

+ 5 years working experience in finish carpentry or cabinetry.

+ Trade school or apprenticeship in carpentry or cabinet making.

+ Knowledge of finishing procedures, types of wood and proper operation of carpentry hand and power tools.
