Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Quality Engineer in Tijuana, MX to lead supplier development initiatives and ensure robust quality systems for precision stamped components. This is a new, strategic role focused on preventing quality defects, implementing APQP methodologies, and driving continuous improvement across supplier operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, hands-on experience with metrology, and a deep understanding of compliance standards and statistical analysis.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Development: Establish and maintain quality systems with suppliers to ensure product readiness and compliance.
APQP Implementation: Apply Advanced Product Quality Planning methodologies to assess producibility and measurability throughout product phases.
Quality Systems Setup: Define and implement control plans and inspection methods before product delivery.
Metrology Oversight: Manage all metrology activities, including optical measurement systems (cameras and optics).
Compliance & Standards: Ensure adherence to ISO, IATF 16949, and VDA standards; conduct compliance checks.
Statistical Process Control: Perform capability analysis (PPK, CPK), set up SPC for critical quality characteristics, and analyze manufacturing capability.
Data Analysis: Organize and interpret measurement data using Minitab and Excel; perform statistical analysis (mean, median, trends).
Problem Solving: Lead 8D processes externally with customers and manage CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions).
Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives to enhance supplier quality performance and reduce defects.

Skills and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering or related technical field.
Minimum 4 years of experience in a quality engineering role.
Strong knowledge of AIAG, IATF 16949, and ISO standards; ISO Lead Auditor certification preferred.
Hands-on experience with sheet metal stamping (highly preferred); plastics experience is a plus.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
Familiarity with APQP, SPC, control plans, and inspection methods.
Skilled in statistical analysis and data interpretation using spreadsheets and Minitab.
Experience managing supplier quality and implementing corrective actions. Technically strong with a proactive approach to supplier development.
Comfortable working with precision stamped components and optical measurement systems.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to lead external quality processes and collaborate effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
