    Job Description

    Position Overview

    The Pre-Owned Director is responsible for leading and optimizing all aspects of the dealership’s pre-owned vehicle operations. This includes procurement, inventory management, merchandising, pricing strategy, reconditioning, and retail performance. The Director will drive profitability, ensure process compliance, and maintain the highest standards of customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

    Key Responsibilities

    Inventory Acquisition & Management

     

    o Source and acquire pre-owned inventory through trade-ins, auctions, and direct purchases.

     

    o Maintain balanced inventory levels aligned with market demand and dealership sales targets.

     

    o Ensure accurate appraisal processes and consistent vehicle valuation.

     

    Retail Performance

     

    o Develop and execute pricing and merchandising strategies to maximize volume and gross profit.

     

    o Oversee digital retailing, online listings, and merchandising standards to ensure competitive market presence.

     

    o Collaborate with the Sales Managers to ensure efficient sales processes and inventory turn.

     

    Reconditioning & Lot Readiness

     

    o Partner with the Service and Recon teams to streamline reconditioning turnaround times.

     

    o Maintain consistent quality control and presentation standards for all vehicles on-lot and online.

     

    Leadership & Team Development

     

    o Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Pre-

     

    Owned team, including appraisers, buyers, and sales managers.

     

    o Set performance goals and KPIs and hold team members accountable for execution.

     

    Market Analysis & Process Improvement

     

    o Utilize tools such as vAuto and other data platforms to analyze market trends and adjust strategy proactively.

     

    o Continuously improve internal processes to enhance efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

     

    Compliance & Customer Service

     

    o Ensure adherence to all manufacturer, legal, and dealership policies.

     

    o Foster a culture of transparency, trust, and customer-first excellence.

    Skills and Requirements

    • Minimum 5 years of automotive management experience; CJDR or other Stellantis experience preferred.

    • Proven success managing large-scale pre-owned operations with consistent volume and profitability growth.

    • Deep understanding of market valuation tools (vAuto, ACV, etc.) and inventory management systems (ERA-Ignite, CDK, Reynolds).

    • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

    • Analytical mindset with attention to operational detail and process discipline.

    • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
