Leidos’ **Maritime System Solutions (MSS) Portfolio** is seeking a visionary **Chief Engineering Manager** to lead and grow a team of Chief Engineers responsible for developing cutting-edge maritime technologies—including autonomous underwater vehicles, advanced sensing systems, and mission-critical electro-mechanical platforms.
In this pivotal role, you’ll guide both the engineering strategy and day-to-day technical execution across a portfolio of high-impact programs. You’ll be a mentor, innovator, and strategic leader—helping shape the technologies that protect and advance U.S. interests around the globe.
What You’ll Do:
Team Leadership & Strategy
+ Lead and manage a team of Chief Engineers across multiple programs and engineering disciplines.
+ Provide mentorship, technical oversight, and leadership development to senior engineering staff.
+ Collaborate closely with Program Managers to align engineering resources with program needs.
+ Drive engineering excellence through best practices, continuous improvement, and cross-program coordination.
+ Contribute to business growth by supporting technical strategy, solution design, and proposal development.
Program-Level Technical Leadership
+ Serve as the **Program Chief Engineer** on one or more strategic programs.
+ Lead technical execution from architecture to delivery, ensuring integration across all engineering disciplines.
+ Guide systems engineering efforts including requirements development, design, V&V, and integration.
+ Act as the primary technical liaison between engineering, program management, and the customer.
+ Proactively identify and resolve technical risks and challenges.
+ Support capture activities as a **Leidos Solution Architect** , including proposal writing, solutioning, and customer engagement.
What You’ll Bring:
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Ocean, Software), Computer Science, Physics, or Math from an accredited institution.
+ **10+ years** of engineering experience in subsea maritime or complex electro-mechanical system development.
+ **5+ years** in an engineering leadership role managing multidisciplinary teams.
+ U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a **Secret security clearance** .
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Demonstrated success leading the design, integration, and deployment of subsea maritime systems.
+ Familiarity with **ISO 9001:2015** standards and quality systems.
+ Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) programs including contract execution, budgeting, and subcontractor oversight.
+ Practical experience in **design-to-manufacturing transitions** .
+ Strong background in systems engineering, including requirements traceability, modeling, and verification/validation.
+ Knowledge of embedded systems, signal processing, and power systems in maritime environments.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $148,850.00 - $269,075.00
