    Summary:

    Oversees the daily functions of the Pre-Service Division within the Hospital's and CPUP Revenue Cycle Department. This position has direct responsibility for the Revenue Cycle Department's Precertification Specialists and Insurance Verification Coordinators who are responsible for the Financial Clearance process for Surgical and Medical patients seeking care at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Ensures Insurance Verification staff confirms insurance eligibility and provides notice of admission to insurance carriers for all Hospital Inpatient Admissions and Outpatient Surgical Procedures. Performance has direct impact on meeting the Revenue Cycle's Key Performance Indicators target.

    Responsibilities

    + Supervises the daily operations of the Financial Clearance division within the HUP/CPUP Revenue Cycle Department

    + Tracks departmental processes and reports to ensure the Revenue Cycle’s KPI benchmarks are being met

    + Ensures departmental policies and procedures are being followed on regular basis and recommends updates as needed, focusing on continuous process improvement

    + Manages staff; interviews, hires, assigns and directs work, appraises staff performance with rewards and discipline, addresses complaints and resolves issues that may arise, and acts as a mentor for department staff

    + Assists the department in achieving and maintaining the Hospital’s Candidate for Billing (CFB) daily goal

    + Ensures communication is provided to department service delivery areas when unresolved financial issues require a delay in treatment • Monitors account assignments and work-queues to ensure accounts are being worked timely and appropriately • Ensures staff collects applicable patient out of pockets liabilities prior to services for both CPUP services and HUP services

    + Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures

    Education

    + Bachelor's degree in healthcare related field with 3 years of Hospital or Practice Revenue Cycle Setting AND previous Supervisory Managment experience

    + AAHAM Revenue Cycle Certification (Preferred)
