    Job Summary

    A Bioinformatics Scientist position is available in the group of Prof. Alexey Nesvizhskii at the University of Michigan Medical School, Ann Arbor. The position will focus on developing computational methods and tools for the analysis of mass spectrometry-based proteomics data. Research projects will center on advancing the FragPipe computational platform, including new modules for DIA and metaproteomics data analysis. The successful candidate will also participate in collaborative studies, help maintain bioinformatics pipelines, and provide computational analysis of proteomics data generated at the Proteomics Resource Facility. The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in bioinformatics or a related field, have a strong record of research productivity (e.g., publications and software) in mass spectrometry-based proteomics, and possess substantial experience developing algorithms and pipelines for proteomics data analysis using Java and Go within the FragPipe ecosystem.

    Responsibilities*

    + Bioinformatics and statistical analysis of mass spectrometry data

    + Development of new methods and algorithms for mass spectrometry data

    + Bioinformatics software development, support and management of FragPipe computational platform

    + Manuscript and report preparation

    Required Qualifications*

    + Bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science or related field

    + 5+ year of experience in working with mass spectrometry-based proteomics data

    + Strong programming skills in Java and R, with proficiency in a Linux environment

    + Experience with statistical analysis and data visualization of proteomics data

    + Experience with developing and maintaining tools as part of FragPipe platform

    Desired Qualifications*

    + Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computer Science or related field

    Background Screening
