Job Summary
TheBilingual Brain Development (https://sites.lsa.umich.edu/kovelman-lab/bilingual-research/) project requires a Research Assistant to help conduct neuroimaging research with young bilingual Spanish-English and Chinese-English children's language and literacy competence. There are two primary responsibilities. The first is to code children's language production, in Spanish and in English. The second is the use of optical brain imaging, functional Near Infrared Spectroscopy to study child language and brain development as well as student training and oversight in the use of the method. The project thus requires two things. First, it requires native-level proficiency with Spanish and English languages as well as knowledge of linguistics as well as knowledge of digital transcription tools (WISPER, SALT). Second, the project requires proficiency with fNIRS imaging and experience of administering child language assessments are thus highly preferred. This is a time-sensitive project for which we do not provide training and expect the staff to come prepared with the necessary skills.
