Description
PeaceHealth is seeking a RN for a per diem variable Diagnostic Imaging RN position in Cardiac Prep Recovery. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $52.22 – $77.59. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.
This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.
Job Summary
Provide patient care and assistance to invasive or complex procedures by providing sterile scrub support, monitoring patients and providing medication administration. Participate as a member of the healthcare team by communicating and documenting pertinent patient information and provide patient and family teaching.
Essential Functions
+ Provide assessment and planning to include performing and documenting age-appropriate assessment, including patient/family level of participation and ability to perform care according to identified standards. Assess bio-psycho-social status, economic, environmental, cultural, spiritual, community and other factors affecting the patient’s optimal health. Establish and maintain a plan of care in collaboration with patient, family and health team members including individualized interventions, goals, outcomes and education and modify or continue plan based on the patient response.
+ Provide assistance and evaluation to include providing scrub assistance to physician during invasive procedures. Monitor and assess ECG and blood pressure and demonstrates CPR defibrillation technique. Assist physician with histology slides. Implement nursing and medical interventions using appropriate resources, skills and knowledge. Make appropriate referrals and provide patient and family teaching to facilitate desired patient outcomes. Evaluate effects of care provided and identify changes in patient condition.
+ Perform effective communication and documentation by communicating and documenting interventions, patient responses in accordance with standards. Utilize recognized organization communication standard. Keep abreast of and comply with departmental and organizational changes and events through reading appropriate communications and attending unit and assigned meetings.
+ Perform medication administration to include administering medicines and narcotics ensuring compliance with medication administration policies and procedures. Demonstrate understanding of effects/side effects and combination effects of medications. Resolve medication discrepancies as they occur.
+ Delegate only those tasks that are appropriate within the scope of practice of other healthcare providers. Retain the responsibility and accountability for the nursing care of the patient.
+ Provide patient/family and staff education to include identifying patient and family teaching needs. Involve appropriate family members in teaching. Utilize available education resources. Assist with the orientation and training of technical and clerical staff.
+ Perform general duties to include following radiation safety and universal precaution protocols and reporting liabilities. Ensure patient and personnel safety by practicing radiation and MRI safety and protective measures. Monitor equipment operation. Make authorized adjustments and report malfunctions and maintenance needs. Maintain a working knowledge of infection control, risk management and emergency preparedness plans. Actively participate in performance improvement initiatives. Demonstrate knowledge of hospital, interdepartmental and unit goals, standards and operations. Maintain and update knowledge of and is responsive to the laws and regulations which affect practice.

Qualifications
Education
+ Accredited School of Nursing Required
+ Bachelor's Degree Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Experience
+ Required: minimum of 1-year Critical Care nursing experience within the last 5 years (or equivalent job position experience)
Credentials
+ Required: WA State Registered Nurse
+ Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support Certification
+ Required: Upon Hire Advanced Cardiac Life Support
Skills
+ Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. (Required)

Working Conditions
Lifting
+ Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
+ Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
+ Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).
+ Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
+ Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
+ Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.
+ Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
Environmental Conditions
+ Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
+ Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.
Mental/Visual
+ Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
+ Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
