The Minnesota Department of Education’s Agency Finance and Operations Division is seeking a Budget Coordinator to guide budgeting and accounting for operations throughout the agency. This lead position plans, analyzes, controls, and coordinates the agency’s budget and financial operations. This position will lead and provide technical support for policies and objectives determined by leadership, ensuring that the agency complies with federal and state standards, laws, rules, policies, and guidelines.
This position is eligible for telework to applicants who reside in Minnesota or a bordering state. Effective June 1, employees living within 50 miles of the office location listed above will be required to work in the office at least 50% of the time each month. For those who live 50 or more miles away, with supervisory approval and satisfactory performance are eligible to telework up to 100% of the time.
Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years of professional financial experience that includes the following:
+ Expertise using Statewide Integrated Financial Tools (SWIFT) and with state accounting principles and processes sufficient to perform the job duties effectively.
+ Experience guiding complex budgeting processes for a unit or organization.
+ Experience guiding complex processes for a unit or organization.
+ Demonstrated organizational skills to meet agency, state, and federal deadlines.
+ Competency in tracking and communicating complex financial information in support of high-level decisionmakers.
+ Experience providing technical financial support to and collaborating closely with colleagues with diverse roles, skills, and backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience leading, guiding, and mentoring other finance colleagues.
+ Experience managing state and federal budgets and a variety of fund and appropriation types.
+ Experience recognizing and resolving financial errors, deficits, and irregularities.
+ Technical skills to build and use financial databases and reports.
