Position Overview
International has a great opportunity for a Capitial Category Manager to join the Indirect Procurement team in Lisle!
Indirect procurement plays a vital role in maintaining business continuity across the entire organization. The indirect procurement team is responsible for identifying suppliers that support a multitude of services that include but not limited to capital equipment and investment, IT hardware and software, consultative services, logistics and distribution, maintenance and repair, marketing and human resources.
As a Capital Category Manager, you will lead strategic sourcing efforts and supplier management within the capital investment category. You will work independently and collaboratively to develop sourcing strategies, negotiate agreements, and coordinate procurement activities across the Traton and Volkswagen Group brands, with a strong focus on North America.
This role requires deep procurement expertise, strong decision-making capabilities, and the ability to work independently while collaborating across functions and regions. You will contribute to initiatives that align with organizational goals and evolving market trends.
Responsibilities
+ Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans aligned with business goals and market dynamics.
+ Lead supplier negotiations and manage supplier relationships to ensure performance, compliance, and innovation.
+ Identify and execute cost-saving opportunities and process improvements across capital investments.
+ Negotiate and execute contracts with favorable terms and conditions.
+ Coordinate procurement strategies globally, particularly across Traton and Volkswagen brands in North America.
+ Drive initiatives that promote sustainability, innovation, and procurement process optimization.
+ Conduct market analysis and benchmarking to understand cost drivers and inform sourcing decisions.
+ Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure procurement activities support broader organizational transformation.
Minimum Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree
+ At least 2 years of purchasing/procurement experience
OR
+ Master’s degree
+ At least 1 years of purchasing/procurement experience
OR
+ At least 5 years of purchasing/procurement experience
Additional Requirements
+ Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
